Good morning people,
I must admit that I don’t often, if ever, write a blog or a note like the one I’m currently sitting here typing up. With that being said, I have some time and would like to share with you all an experience I had this morning.
From time to time I have the privilege of waking up early and driving into Toronto. This morning I left Guelph at about 6:15am and began to make my way to the big city. When I first ventured out on my journey it was still fairly dark, although it was quite evident that the sun was very close to making it’s first appearance of the day. As I headed east on the 401 to the 407 the sun began to make it’s glorious entrance…and it was nothing short of glorious. Suddenly it hit me, as it has many times before, that God is in that sunrise! No, not some freaky optical illusion of an outline of a face that I mistook for Jesus. It was God’s presence and God’s handy work that was in that very sunrise! In Romans 1:20 it reads:
20For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
This morning, without a doubt, I saw one of God’s invisible qualities IN the creation by Him that we’re so blessed to be a part of. We can find God in lots of different places. In His word, through prayer and our quiet times…and these are extremely important spiritual disciplines for sure, but we’re not limited to “finding or connecting with God” in just these ways. See, our God created that sun and all the world that it envelopes in just 6 short days. God knows no limits (except with sin, obvi), and He will make Himself available to you in so many different ways, you just have to look for Him and/or ask that He’ll show Himself to you. Every day I take for granted the fact that the sun rises and sets, only to rise again the next morning. How many times have I missed God in those occurrences?? Now I realize that we don’t always get to see every sunrise and sunset, even just from a weather perspective, but that’s just one mere example of somewhere God can be found daily. So maybe this morning pray that God will open your eyes and your heart and show Himself to you, whether it’s in a sunrise/sunset (for example) or through His word. And I can’t explain it, but I promise you that you will feel encouraged, energized and blessed by however you connect with God today!
Bless you guys
Matt
hey friends! Just shooting out a quick note to say that Phill and Matt have settled nicely into fatherhood and CWL is ready to come out of their hiatus!! We have a few dates to throw at you guys coming in the next week or so….so…stay tuned!! Exciting things to come!
There are also a few prayer requests we’d like to share with you guys…
- remember the people of Haiti as people are still being found both dead and alive. There’s going to be a lot of rebuilding and fund raising is essential. Do what you can both financially and with your prayers!
- Our friend Mikey Fisher is battling cancer in a huge way. He’s a 27 year old husband (to Karen) and a new father (to Niko, 2 months old). The doctors are saying he needs a miracle and we’re praying for one!! Could you pray too please??
We serve an awesome God and in the midst of all these things He has a plan and we need to trust Him! He also has the amazing power to rebuild and to heal and we pray that He chooses to do so here!
God bless you guys and we look forward to seeing you all VERY soon! Have a solid week
